I am a wife, a mother, a REALTOR, a community volunteer, a weekly blogger, a philanthropist, a comic at heart, a flea-market junkie, a serial renovator, a "before-and-after" specialist, and a prolific chocolate-chip cookie baker. I enjoy a good book, a fabulous "find," an undiscovered treasure, and long walks on the beach or in the mountains - often with my husband or dog in tow.

With two decades of selling real estate in the East Bay, I moved to Compass in 2018 to offer my clients greater regional and cross-country reach,  innovative technology, and a more relevant marketing approach to both buying and selling that are especially important in today's highly-competitive and virtual marketplace. In 2019, I partnered with Sarah Abel and together, we created a dynamic partnership that also put the "fun" back into the process. Along with our full-time property liaison, Jill Shortley, our tech-savvy assistant, Kate Abel, and our social media guru, Anna Shortley, our team can just about handle any challenge that comes our way.

I currently live in the Crocker Highlands neighborhood in Oakland, having sold our Piedmont home a few years ago, and enjoy working with both motivated Buyers and Sellers alike. Having bought and renovated several homes of my own over the years, I believe wholeheartedly in both the process and the dream of home ownership. To that end, I work diligently on my clients' behalf and am delighted to help them navigate this exciting journey - whether in short order, or much further down the road. ​

In my spare time, I write a very popular weekly Blog called "A New Perspective," which tracks lifestyle, community happenings and real estate news in and around the Bay Area.

Having spent the first half of my adult life in San Francisco, and my second in  Piedmont/Oakland, I am pleased to have discovered all that this side of the bridge has to offer. The East Bay is an extremely vibrant, and eclectic kaleidoscope of people and experiences and I am proud to add my story to the mix. JILL SHORTLEY
Julie & Sarah's "right-hand woman"

Licensed REALTOR, full-time assistant and Gal Friday, Jill oversees and coordinates the vendors, inspectors and repairs on all of our listings as our exclusive project manager; which may include everything from specifying new lighting, countertops, backsplashes, appliances, floors, and paint colors, or hand selecting new plants for the gardens, while collaborating with the staging and gardening crews. She creates and manages the marketing calendar and follows the transaction from beginning to end.

As a fully-licensed Agent, she can also meet with Buyers and Sellers, draft contracts, analyze the marketplace, show properties and hold Sunday Opens. Jill holds open the Brokers’ Tours as well as assists in all marketing needs, thus your home will have triple the coverage, exposure and efforts.
